Aug 8, 2012 - Hi support, Just bought a new macbook pro and unable to install battery 3. Keep getting invalid serial number. I'm on Lion (Not mountain. Apr 19, 2010 - Hi I purchased Kontakt 3 in August or September of 2008 if I remember correctly. I had it installed in my macbook for a bit then stopped using it.
First off, sincere apologies for posting this question here, but please try to take it as a compliment. The expected utility of asking this community too severely outweighs my duty to wait (on-topic) for Native Instruments to clean up their own mess.
So then:
1. I've run disk utility to 'fix permissions' on the target disk.
2. I have the latest updates to both Battery 3 and the Service Center application.
3. I have tried deleting the com.native-instruments.* plists from both /Library/Preferences and ~/Library/Preferences.
I run Battery 3, and it claims not to be activated. From Battery's prompt, I run the Service Center application, and enter my serial number.
Here's where it gets weird: Service Center usually reports success, but sometimes lists Battery as not activated, saying I need a different serial number. But on success, I go back to the main screen in Service Center to get details on my installed apps, and Battery 3 is indeed listed as Activated (in green type, no less 🙂
But regardless of whether Service Center reports success or failure, whenever I try to start Battery, it claims not to be activated.
So close and yet so far-
